Dog friendly country cottages are in short supply so Green Pastures, with three double bedrooms for up to six people, will certainly be popular.

Located in the idyllic South Downs in the picturesque village of East Dean next to Friston,  this dog friendly country cottage is in one of the best positions from which to enjoy Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and the South Downs National Park, and also offers easy access to Eastbourne, just four miles away and just 18 miles to Brighton.

East Dean is an idyllic village which acts as the gateway to the South Downs National Park, offering wonderful walks along the cliff-tops of the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head or into Friston Forest.

In the village you’ll find the Tiger Inn and Thai Terre, a restaurant with a cracking (and deserved) reputation. There are also independent shops including an award winning butchers, hairdressers and local post office.

Dog friendly country cottage in East Dean

The property is full of traditional character, with a warm and peaceful atmosphere. It provides a spacious base for families with its large reception rooms for communal activities. There is also plenty of space to escape with a book or newspaper for some down time.

The country kitchen-diner is light and well equipped with range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, microwave, kettle, fridge freezer, toaster and all the utensils you'll need for self catering.  There is a dining table to seat six people.

With two sofas and three easy chairs the lounge offers lots of comfortable space, plus a Smart TV, DVD player and stereo.

Two of the double bedrooms are downstairs along with the family bathroom with a bath with a shower over, plus the toilet is separate. The master bedroom with a double bed, Smart TV and hand basin is upstairs adjoining a seating area on the spacious landing.

The main rear garden is set on a hillside with garden seating and an additional picnic bench at the side of the house. Much of the lawn is dedicated as a wildlife area visited by foxes and badgers. The front garden is laid to lawn with flower beds and a bench overlooking The Green opposite.

The country cottage is dog friendly - well behaved, neutered adult dogs are considered (£50 supplement per dog applies - please contact us with more details on your dog to ensure a good fit).

There is free WiFi and parking for two cars on the driveway.  Linen and towels are provided but please bring your own towels for the beach and swimming. If you are staying for two weeks or longer, additional linen and towels are provided.

A lovely family house in a perfect quiet village location, Green Pastures is traditionally but comfortably furnished with everything you need for a countryside retreat.
There is dog-walking literally right on the doorstep and the friendly locals will stop for a chat on the green.
We loved the modern, sun-filled kitchen especially for family breakfast.
Eastbourne is only 5 minutes by car with its town centre amenities, beach, theatre, wonderful Towner Gallery and the countryside and coastline of East Sussex are not far off.
A big thank you to Carl and Sarah for a wonderful Easter holiday.

This is a beautiful house with friendly neighbours and green surroundings.
We liked staying there very much.
Parking the car on the steep path in front of the house needs a bit courageous driving but you get used to it.
If you happen to wake up at night you might see the fox in the back garden!

There is a week-long minimum stay and bookings run from Sunday to Sunday in peak season, although flexible arrival days and short stays may be possible out of season.

Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £200 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit and/or booking deposit.

The checkout time is 10am on the day of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes or place in the dishwasher and switch on before you leave. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonable state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit.

The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.

The property can only be used for the maximum number shown on the booking correspondence. It must not be used for improper, illegal or immoral purposes. Guests must not sub-let the property and must not change, add, move or remove any items of furniture, furnishings or structures inside or outside. Guests must not cause (nor allow any visitors to cause) any nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to neighbours, the property owner or the property owner’s agent.
