Hikers’ Retreat is an elegant, adults-only getaway ideally located in East Dean, right beside the stunning South Downs National Park. Thoughtfully designed and beautifully furnished, this South Downs Way accommodation offers a stylish one-bedroom stay perfect for walkers, cyclists and anyone seeking peace, comfort, and scenic surroundings. With direct access to rolling hills and iconic landmarks including Belle Tout Lighthouse, Beachy Head and the dramatic Seven Sisters cliffs, it’s an ideal base for outdoor adventures.
Enter through your own private gate into a tranquil garden setting, where greenery surrounds the annexe and provides lovely views from the lounge, kitchen, and bedroom. This peaceful outdoor space features a fish pond and seating area—perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or unwinding with a drink at sunset. Filled with birdsong and fresh country air, the garden also includes a summer house for convenient bike storage.
Inside, the bright and welcoming living area offers a cosy two-seater sofa, a comfortable armchair and a dining table for two. Patio doors open onto the garden, creating a relaxing spot to read, dine, or simply recharge after a day exploring the Downs.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, including a washing machine, microwave, kettle, toaster, Dolce Gusto coffee machine, fridge freezer, oven, and induction hob. Preparing meals is a pleasure with views out to the garden.
The spacious bedroom features a king-size bed and calming garden views, offering a restful retreat after a day outdoors. The sleek, contemporary bathroom includes a large walk-in shower and indulgent touches such as aromatic toiletries.
Guests can also enjoy off-road parking, free Wi-Fi, crisp white linen, and fluffy towels (with extras provided for stays of more than two weeks).

Minimum age of lead guest 25+. Adults-only property. Smoking, pets and parties are not permitted.
There is a week-long minimum stay in peak season, although flexible arrival days may be possible out of season.
Costs include the weekly rent, a £30 booking fee and a returnable £200 security deposit. To book requires an immediate, non-refundable deposit of £200 per week booked (booking fee and a portion of the rent) and then the balance, including the security deposit, is due by no later than six weeks before your arrival. For stays of three weeks or more, you may be asked to pay a higher security deposit.
The checkout time is 10am on the morning of departure – a fine may be applied if you do not leave on time. Please leave the property in good order – dispose of rubbish in external bins and wash up any pots/dishes before you depart. If the accommodation is left in an unreasonably messy or dirty state, requiring deep cleaning, the cost for this will be deducted from your security deposit.
The security deposit will be returned to you within 1-2 weeks of your departure, minus any deduction for damage, loss or excessive cleaning required.
The property can only be used for the maximum number shown on the booking correspondence. It must not be used for improper, illegal or immoral purposes. Guests must not sub-let the property and must not change, add, move or remove any items of furniture, furnishings or structures inside or outside. Guests must not cause (nor allow any visitors to cause) any nuisance, annoyance or disturbance to neighbours, the property owner or the property owner’s agent.
